At Dubai Heights Academy, we are committed to promoting the fundamental British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. These values are central to our ethos and are embedded across our curriculum, pastoral provision, and wider school life.
As an international school in Dubai, we deliver British Values in a way that is respectful of the laws, culture, and traditions of the United Arab Emirates while preparing students to thrive in a diverse global society. Promoting British Values in School Life
British Values are not taught in isolation. They are embedded meaningfully across lessons, enrichment opportunities, assemblies, and everyday interactions.
Democracy
Students are encouraged to understand and experience democratic processes through:
- Student leadership opportunities where students represent their peers and contribute to school improvement.
- Regular student voice activities including questionnaires, discussions and feedback forums.
- Classroom practices that promote discussion, debate and respectful listening to different viewpoints.
These experiences help students understand the importance of participation, representation and shared decision making.
The Rule of Law
Students learn the importance of rules and laws in maintaining fairness, safety and order through:
- Clear behaviour expectations and consistently applied policies including, but not limited to, the school's behaviour policy.
- Class agreements that help students understand responsibility and consequences.
- Curriculum links that explore laws, rights and justice in age appropriate ways.
