Alison Lamb
Principal

Alison is an established school leader with more than 22 years of successful headship both in the UK and internationally. Her experience of teaching and leadership spans 30 years in early years, primary and secondary departments and in a wide variety of schools including mainstream and special education; including schools for moderate learning, emotional, behavioural, and medical needs, EAL, private and state, co-educational and single gender. Since 2019 she has been committed to her role as Principal of Dubai Heights Academy and brings with her a wealth of experience in leadership in the Middle East.

Alison is also a PENTA trained British School Overseas inspector with outstanding knowledge and experience in local and international school accreditation. She has worked widely as an executive committee member and country representative for British Schools in the Middle East (BSME), mentoring new school principals and helping schools work through the requirements for achieving BSME accreditation. Since joining Dubai Heights Academy, she has led the school forward in its journey of excellence including the achievement of a Very Good KHDA inspection rating, with several outstanding features.

Alison's vision is to lead the school to greater 'heights' by creating and maintaining a positive and progressive environment for students and staff to learn and develop. Alison aims for Dubai Heights Academy to be recognised as an outstanding British School in Dubai which focuses on developing the whole child; academically, intellectually and emotionally. The school's distinctive ethos of 'Every Child, Every Mind, Everybody Matters' forms an integral part of its unique identity where there is an emphasis on providing the best inclusive educational practice in addition to further strengthening the community of support from all stakeholders.

Rob Hitchings
Vice Principal

With 28 years of experience in both UK and international educational settings, including new, evolving, and established schools, Rob Hitchings, Vice Principal at Dubai Heights Academy, brings extensive educational expertise. His career has spanned a variety of school types, including for-profit, non-profit, segregated, and government institutions, where he has taken on various leadership roles.

Rob is passionate about the intersection of education and technology, advocating for the use of technological tools to empower educators and students in transforming the learning experience. His vision centers on leveraging technology to inspire creativity, foster innovation, and develop critical thinking skills.

Rob's academic journey began with a BSc (Hons) in Geography and Geology, followed by a Postgraduate Certificate in Education with a focus on Geography and 16-19 Education. He further pursued a Master's degree in Information Communications Technology and Education from Leeds University.

Kenneth Lyon
Head of Primary

Kenneth Lyon is no stranger to leadership in education and has over 11 years of senior leadership roles in primary and whole school settings, previously a Vice Principal at an American curriculum school. Formerly, Kenneth has held positions of Assistant Head, Deputy Head and Head of Primary over a period of 14 years at a leading British curriculum school in Dubai.

He has considerable experience of school improvement, particularly around academic standards and the quality of learning and teaching. He is totally committed to placing the needs of the students at the centre of all decision making. He ensures that children are offered a real breadth and depth of experiences that builds on their talents, challenges them to question the world and offers them new and exciting opportunities. Kenneth also ensures to provide the skills and opportunities for his staff to take on leadership roles and strongly believes in empowering leaders at all levels across the school.

He strongly believes that schools are at the heart of a community and he is known for his collaborative leadership style, working closely with teachers, staff and parents to develop and foster positive relationships.

Scott Goldstein
Head of Secondary

Originally from Essex in England, Scott Goldstein brings a breadth of experience and knowledge in education, with the last 10 years spent in senior leadership roles in British Curriculum schools, across London and the UAE. His last role before joining Dubai Heights Academy was as Whole School Principal for a British Curriculum school in the UAE. Scott is a personable, focused and results driven leader who is passionate about improving overall school effectiveness and has demonstrated success in improving educational outcomes. He has shown significant results in driving improvements in the quality of teaching and learning, through curricula development and adaptation.

In addition, his professional staff training, the development and implementation of school specific policies and standards, along with knowledge gained from the completion of the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) have created a nurturing, learning oriented environment focused on student growth. Scott has been recognised as an outstanding teacher and shares his passion and knowledge for Geography by continuing to deliver this subject to GCSE students. His inclusive mentoring leadership style has successfully built sustainable relationships with all school stakeholders.

Terrie Spencer
Head of Inclusion

Terrie Spencer is a passionate and dedicated leader of inclusion. She has extensive experience of leadership and teaching in a variety of school settings in the UAE and UK, including: mainstream schools, specialist schools for students of determination, a pupil referral unit, a single gender school, a bilingual school and international schools. Terrie has worked with pupils with a vast range of special educational needs and disablilites, including pupils with selective mutism, hearing impairment, autism, ADHD and specific learning difficulties. In addition, she has supported the development of pupils with English as an Additional Language and has enriched the learning experiences of pupils identified as Gifted and Talented to ensure that they, like all pupils, are suitably challenged to reach their full potential.

Terrie is the eternal student, committed to ongoing professional development. To support her role as the Head of Inclusion, she holds a Master of Education in Special Education Needs with distinction, PENTA accreditation, is a registered test user and a qualified neuro-developmental therapist (INPP method). Furthermore, she is a member of professional bodies including, The British Psychological Society and the Institute of Neuro-Physiological Psychology. In her quest to support and challenge the students in her care, she has studied Gifted and Talented identification and provision, school mental health improvement, Exam Access Arrangements and ABA therapy.

Terrie is especially passionate about school readiness, early intervention and the role of movement in learning. She particularly enjoys spending time in the Early Years, ensuring that pupils have the solid foundations necessary to thrive on their personal learning journey. Terrie believes that working in close partnership with parents and caregivers is key to the best outcomes for pupils and is regularly involved in events, such as parent workshops, to foster these partnerships.

Shahenda Ahmed
Head of Ministry of Education Subjects

Shahenda is an accomplished educational leader with more than fifteen years of experience in teaching and leadership. She is of Jordanian origin and holds a bachelor's degree in Arabic Language and Literature from the University of Jordan. Her leadership journey spans various educational settings in the UAE, where she has successfully guided her department through periods of growth and transformation.

As a forward-thinking leader, Shahenda's leadership is distinguished by the commitment to inspire a love of the Arabic language and implementing innovative teaching strategies that enhance student engagement and achievement. Shahenda excels in guiding her school and department towards excellence, using her broad experience to create a positive and progressive environment for everyone she works with. Her vision is to foster an inclusive educational community, where academic and personal development are integrated smoothly, ensuring that every teacher and student grows.

Shahenda's leadership is marked by a focus on building strong relationships within and outside the educational community. She is dedicated to mentoring teachers, developing effective teaching strategies and leading initiatives that enhance the overall quality of education.

Katie Staton
Assistant Head of Primary and Head of Early Years

With over 20 years of teaching experience, including more than a decade in Senior Leadership at a prestigious independent school in the North of England, Katie Staton brings a wealth of expertise across the primary age range. In recent years, she has served as Head of Early Years, leading teams of dedicated teachers and practitioners to consistently achieve the highest standards.

Katie is deeply passionate about teaching and learning and remains committed to ongoing professional development. She has a strong track record of raising academic standards and mentoring fellow educators to reach their full potential.

A reflective, approachable, and inspiring leader, Katie sets high expectations and ensures every learning experience has impact. She thrives on challenge and continually adapts her pedagogical approach to secure the best possible outcomes for all children. Working in close partnership with parents, she aims to inspire young learners to become curious, resilient, and independent thinkers - well-prepared to navigate an ever-evolving world.

Matt Craze
Assistant Head of Primary

Matt is stepping into the role of Assistant Head of Primary at Dubai Heights Academy after three successful years as the Primary Maths Lead. With over 10 years of experience as a class teacher and eight years leading Maths across the UK and UAE, Matt has developed a strong expertise in curriculum development, teacher mentoring, and student achievement. This year, he successfully completed his National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership (NPQSL), further enhancing his leadership skills.

Passionate about fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, Matt has extensive experience in safeguarding and promoting positive behaviour, ensuring all students thrive academically and socially. Matt is committed to enriching children's experiences both inside and outside the classroom. He has led international trips and coached sports teams to nurture confidence, teamwork, and resilience, helping students develop valuable life skills beyond academics.

Outside of school, Matt enjoys staying active by playing padel and golf and is a dedicated supporter of Liverpool FC.

Shazia Choudhry
Head of Key Stage 4/5

As a Teacher of Psychology, Shazia brings 12 years of experience in education, with a strong foundation in both classroom teaching and leadership. Her career began with two years of teaching in England before moving to the UAE, where she has continued to develop a dynamic and inclusive approach to education. This international experience has broadened her perspective, allowing her to draw on diverse educational practices to create engaging and thought-provoking learning experiences for her students. She is deeply passionate about the study of Psychology and its power to help students understand themselves and the world around them. She has been proud to see this passion reflected in her students' success, with her Psychology learners achieving the highest grades in the UAE and Middle East at both GCSE and A-Level, earning awards in recognition of their outstanding performance.

In her teaching, Shazia strives to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and a genuine love for learning. She believes that education should not only promote academic success but also support the holistic development of each student. By encouraging open discussion, analytical thinking, and real-world application of psychological concepts, she aims to inspire students to become confident, reflective, and compassionate individuals.

Shazia's goal is to create an environment where every student feels supported to reach their full potential, both academically and personally. She is passionate about equipping young people with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in their future endeavours, whether in higher education, their careers, or as thoughtful contributors to society.

Paul Begley
Head of Key Stage 3

Paul Begley is in his fifth year leading the Secondary English department at Dubai Heights Academy and has recently taken on the additional role of Head of Key Stage 3. His academic journey began at Queen's University in Belfast, where he studied English and Politics, before completing his PGCE at Birmingham City University in England.

Drawing on his varied experience, Paul moved from teaching English and serving as Head of Year in the UK to taking on leadership roles in Dubai. In the classroom, he creates dynamic and imaginative learning environments that inspire a deep appreciation for literature and language. His passion for poetry and modern drama is evident as he helps students explore these rich and expressive fields. Paul's commitment to building vibrant, creative, and intellectually engaging classrooms continues to shape and enrich the learning experience at Dubai Heights Academy.

Paul King
Director of Sports

Paul King has a wonderful passion for sport and physical activity and the benefits they can bring to individuals and society. It is for these reasons he pursued a career in PE, completing a Sport and Exercise Science degree followed by a PGCE in Physical Education. He later earned his Master's in Business Administration with a focus on Educational Leadership. Paul is going into his 11th year of teaching, with 10 of those years spent in the UAE. He is a founding staff member of Dubai Heights Academy and has made a significant impact across the school community. Since Academic Year 2025-2026, Paul has taken on the exciting new leadership position as Director of Sports, as well as ECA Coordinator.

He is also a fully accredited BTEC Level 2 and 3 Internal Verifier, supporting the delivery and quality assurance of vocational qualifications in sports. Paul is highly qualified across a wide range of sports and activities, most notably in football, swimming, basketball, and is also a certified spin instructor. Paul's teaching philosophy is simple - that school PE and sports should accommodate and cater for children of all ages and abilities, while also encouraging competitiveness, independence, and resilience. He firmly believes that PE and sports participation should play a vital role in every young person's development, providing the ideal foundation for essential life skills in today's rapidly changing world - where young people can grow, achieve, and ultimately become positive contributors to society.

Outside of work, Paul is a committed sportsman with a passion for staying active and involved in competitive sports. His main sporting interests include football, Gaelic football, golf, padel, and swimming. He has represented several sports teams and organisations across Dubai and the wider UAE. His coaching background includes working with Arsenal FC, Dubai Irish FC, and the DASSA select squads. Among his notable achievements are representing his country at U18 level, earning a scholarship to attend Boston University, and representing Ireland in the recent 6-a-side Mini World Cup held in Ras Al Khaimah. Paul continues to play an influential role in school and community sports. He has worked closely with DASSA to organise boys' football competitions and now serves as a member of the DASSA Executive Committee.

Dolly Bradley-Barnard
FS1 Teacher

Dolly grew up in a small village in Nottinghamshire, England, alongside her four siblings. She studied in the UK, earning a BA (Hons) degree followed by a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). Dolly began her teaching career in the UK and later taught in Egypt, gaining invaluable experience along the way. Over 20 years ago, she made Dubai her home, where she now lives with her husband, three children, two dogs, and three cats. With a background in both primary and secondary education, Dolly is especially passionate about teaching in the early years. She is dedicated to creating a nurturing, play-based environment that ensures each child's first experience of school is happy, meaningful, and filled with confidence and curiosity.

Melissa Conchie
FS1 Teacher

Melissa has 7 years of teaching experience in the UK, UAE and Myanmar. She promotes and delivers a strong play-based, holistic learning environment which caters to the needs of all learners through carefully planned activities. Melissa has worked across KS1 and EYFS where she uses children's interests to plan her teaching and learning and is excellent at creating a positive learning environment where all students are recognised for their strengths.

Ruvina Davetawalu
FS1 Teacher

Ruvina, a valued member of our Foundation Stage team, brings over 13 years of teaching experience in early years and primary education, including the past 3 years at our school Dubai Heights Academy. She brings dedication, creativity, and a deep understanding of how young children learn best. She holds a Bachelor of Primary Education and a Higher National Diploma in Primary Education. Her commitment to continuous professional development is evident through her training in phonics, inclusive teaching, and student wellbeing.

Ruvina began her journey at our school as a Learning Assistant. Her strong leadership, adaptability, and passion for teaching quickly earned her teaching roles across FS1 and FS2. In the classroom, she creates a nurturing and engaging environment where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn. She is especially passionate about building confidence and independence in her students, while supporting their literacy and numeracy skills. Beyond her teaching role, Ruvina actively contributes to school life by leading phonics groups, supporting interventions, helping with planning, and running after-school clubs.

Outside the classroom, Ruvina enjoys reading, travelling to new places, cooking and baking, and watching sports. These personal interests enrich her teaching, enabling her to bring real-world experiences and global perspectives into the classroom in age-appropriate and engaging ways. Natasha Pereria
FS1 Teacher

Natasha is a caring and enthusiastic educator with over six years of experience teaching young learners across a range of subjects, with a strong focus on English, early literacy, and holistic development. As a Certified Teacher with a Master of Science in Education, she is skilled in designing engaging, age-appropriate lessons that support the social, emotional, and academic growth of children in their foundational years.

With a background in early years education, Natasha is experienced in creating nurturing, play-based environments where children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to explore. She uses a variety of teaching strategies, including inquiry-based learning, differentiated instruction, and hands-on activities, to meet the individual needs of each child and foster a love of learning from the very beginning. Known for her patience, creativity, and ability to connect with young learners, she values strong communication with families and colleagues to support each child’s development. She is especially passionate about building classroom communities where children feel confident, curious, and celebrated.

Outside of the classroom, Natasha enjoys traveling, discovering new places to eat, and shopping. She often brings her love of exploring the world into her teaching, using stories, role-play, and creative themes to spark imagination and global awareness in young learners.

Pamela Snell
FS2 Lead

Pamela is a passionate and experienced Early Years educator from the UK, with over 12 years of teaching experience in Early Childhood Education. She holds a BSc (Hons) from the University of Ulster and an MA in Early Childhood Education from the University of Roehampton, London. In addition, she has achieved Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) from the UK Department for Education, a CACHE Level 3 qualification in Early Childhood Development, and holds a UAE teaching license.

Pamela currently serves as the Year Group Lead for FS2, where she takes pride in supporting her students and ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across the Foundation Stage. Over the past ten years, she has taught in a range of settings across the UAE, including Dubai, Fujairah, and Abu Dhabi, as well as in the UK and Northern Ireland. Pamela is deeply committed to fostering each child's personal and academic growth. She strives to create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment that encourages curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning. Her goal is to deliver inspiring and appropriately challenging lessons that meet the needs of all learners, helping every child reach their full potential.

Jessica Cummins
FS2 Teacher

Jessica is a dedicated and passionate educator with over six years of teaching experience across the UAE and Ireland. She has worked with various international curricula, including British, International Baccalaureate, SABIS, and the Irish primary school curriculum, with the majority of her experience focused on teaching early years and lower primary school grades.

Jessica holds an honours BSc in Education and Training from Dublin City University, which has provided her with a strong foundation in pedagogy. She is committed to creating nurturing and inclusive classroom environments where every student feels valued, challenged, and inspired to reach their full potential.

Throughout her career, Jessica has organised and led various extracurricular activities such as physical development programmes and mindfulness sessions, further enhancing her students' well-being and holistic growth.

Outside of the classroom, Jessica has a passion for travelling and exploring the world, believing that experiencing new cultures and environments helps broaden her perspective as both an educator and an individual. Hayley Shaw
FS2 Teacher

Hayley is an enthusiastic and committed teacher who has lived in Dubai for 27 years. After completing her formative years of schooling in Dubai, she studied in England and graduated from university with a BA (Hons) degree in Primary Education. This year will be Hayley's twelfth year teaching across the Early Years and Key Stage One. Learning is a lifelong skill that Hayley is passionate about embedding in her classroom environment and using adaptive teaching strategies that support each and every child. Being part of Dubai Heights Academy since the school's opening, Hayley has enjoyed organising exciting school trips, events such as Science Week and helping out with the Parent Teachers Association (PTA).

Martina Daniels
FS2 Teacher

Martina is an enthusiastic and creative Early Years teacher from the UK with over 25 years of experience, including 20 Years in the Middle East. Holding a BA (Hons) in Primary Education from the University of Reading, her career includes roles at well-established schools in Dubai. With a strong focus on wellbeing and building meaningful relationships with families, her teaching philosophy is rooted in a holistic approach to learning. Children are encouraged to explore, question, and connect ideas through imaginative, child-led experiences that foster a lifelong love of learning. Known for creating warm, inspiring environments, her lessons are filled with creativity, movement, and hands-on discovery. Continuous provision plays a key role in her classroom, with expressive arts and messy play being firm favourites.

Beyond teaching, life is busy and fulfilling - shared with her husband and two teenage children. Time outdoors, meditation and soaking up the local surroundings provide a welcome balance to her vibrant professional life.

Jenny Stretch
FS2 Teacher

Jenny holds a BA (Hons) Degree and a teaching qualification from Liverpool John Moores University. She began her teaching journey in the UK as a high school Art teacher before progressing into leadership roles, coordinating teams and integrating creative approaches into Early Years education. Over the years, she has had the privilege of teaching students across the full spectrum, from Early Years all the way through to GCSEs, A-Levels, BTECs and the IB Diploma. This breadth of experience has given her a strong understanding of how vital the early foundation years are in shaping a child’s educational journey.

Through both professional experience and her journey as a parent, Jenny has developed a deep passion for Early Years education. She truly believes that these formative years are essential in nurturing confident, curious and capable learners. In her classroom, she strives to create a warm, inclusive and creative environment where every child feels valued and empowered to thrive.

When Jenny is not in the classroom, she loves spending time outdoors, running, hiking and practicing yoga. She is also passionate about art, cooking and exploring new places with her family.

Eadaoin Kellegher
FS2 Teacher

Eadaoin is an Irish primary teacher who has been teaching in Dubai for the past six years. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography and Irish, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). This strong academic background, combined with her international teaching experience, enables her to deliver engaging and inclusive lessons that support every child’s progress.

Eadaoin is passionate about helping young learners grow academically, socially, and emotionally. She is committed to creating nurturing classrooms where children feel valued, supported, and motivated to achieve their best. Her teaching philosophy centres on making learning meaningful and enjoyable, while encouraging curiosity, resilience, and collaboration. She also values building strong partnerships with parents, recognising the importance of home and school working closely together.

Outside of teaching, Eadaoin enjoys playing football and golf, spending time outdoors; especially on long walks during the cooler months; and catching up with friends over coffee. She values wellbeing and balance, and brings this perspective into her teaching to help children develop a positive mindset and a lifelong love of learning.

Nicola Jenkins
Year 1 Lead

Nicola is a passionate and experienced Early Years educator from the UK with 8 years of teaching experience and over 17 years in education. Having worked in a range of roles including Nursery Manager and Literacy Specialist, she holds a degree in Early Childhood Development and has supported schools in developing research-based early reading practices and whole-school literacy strategies. Nicola has taught across various settings in both the UK and UAE. She is dedicated to creating a nurturing, play-based environment where children feel confident, curious, and excited to learn. A strong advocate for child-centred learning, she believes in the power of play to support both academic and personal growth.

In addition to her teaching expertise, Nicola is a reflective and collaborative leader. She has experience coaching staff, delivering professional development, and leading parent workshops on early reading and writing. She is committed to building strong relationships with children, staff, and families, and is passionate about fostering a positive school culture where everyone can thrive.

Nicola is especially passionate about early reading and fostering a love of books and stories from the very beginning. Her aim is to create an engaging and inclusive classroom where every child can flourish, develop a love of learning, and feel proud of their achievements.

Megan Elwell
Year 1 Teacher

Megan has been teaching for 10 years in the UK, UAE and South Korea. This is her third year at Dubai Heights Academy. She believes that her role as a teacher is to enable her pupils to see opportunity in every situation and that they work best through a positive, creative and engaging approach. She ensures they are encouraged to explore their strengths and weaknesses to develop a natural curiosity. She is progressive in her approach to teaching, incorporating technology, innovation and creativity into her daily classroom learning to promote children's interests.

Noreen Masterson
Year 1 Teacher

Noreen pursued her education in Dublin, earning a BSc in Computer Applications in DCU and completing her PGDE at Hibernia College. Over the course of 16 years, she has had the privilege of teaching across Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2 in schools in the northwest of Ireland. Her teaching journey has been deeply rewarding, filled with opportunities to cultivate valuable experiences and skills to bring to Dubai Heights Academy. She firmly believes in a child-centred approach to education, where each student's unique abilities are nurtured and celebrated. Creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment is a top priority for her, as is fostering open communication and positive relationships with both students and parents.

Charlotte Neil
Year 1 Teacher

Charlotte is a dedicated primary school teacher from the UK who has experience teaching in both Key Stage 1 and 2 in the UK and the UAE. After completing her degree in Psychology and Special educational needs, she gained her PGCE in primary education. Charlotte is a passionate and nurturing teacher with a heart for making a difference and she strives to inspire each child to reach their full potential. She creates a welcoming classroom environment where each mind feels valued and encouraged.

Liam Walsh
Year 1 Teacher

Liam is a dedicated and innovative primary school teacher with over 20 years of experience across the UK and Dubai. He holds a degree from the UK and a PGCE in Primary Education, alongside further professional qualifications in leadership, coaching, science education and the use of AI in the classroom. Throughout his career, Liam has taught across all primary year groups, with a particular passion for Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2. He has held a variety of leadership roles within his schools, helping to raise science standards and foster inquiry-based, engaging learning.

Liam strongly believes that the relationships built with children and parents are at the heart of successful learning. He often says that “children only get one chance to be five,” and works to ensure they enjoy the best possible experiences in their early years at school. He is passionate about creating inclusive, supportive classrooms where every child feels valued and inspired to achieve.

Beyond teaching, Liam enjoys golf, football coaching, and spending time with his family.

Lillie Jones
Year 1 Teacher / Phonics Lead

Lillie is an experienced Primary School Teacher from the UK, with seven years worth of experience across the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Primary phases. She graduated with a BA (Honours) in Primary Education with QTS from the University of Sunderland. Her professional journey has taken her from classrooms in the North of England to an enriching international role in the heart of the Capital, Abu Dhabi. While teaching in Abu Dhabi, Lillie embraced the opportunity to work within a diverse, multicultural community and took on the leadership of phonics for FS2. She is deeply committed to Early Literacy and to implementing evidence-based strategies that support children in developing essential reading and writing skills.

After obtaining a BA (Hons) from the University of Leeds, UK, Anne worked as a translator and teacher of EFL in Spain before returning to UK and pursuing a career in Finance. In need of a new challenge, Anne returned to teaching 19 years ago working in the UK secondary sector before moving to the Middle East in 2011. After two years in Kuwait teaching French and Maths at British School of Kuwait, she moved to Dubai and has worked in a series of British and IB schools as a teacher of French and Spanish. Having decided to commit fully to the Primary sector, Anne has also worked as a general Primary cover teacher, giving her an in-depth knowledge of the entire UK curriculum across both Key Stages 1 and 2. Her approach to teaching languages is very communicative, giving all students opportunities to interact in the target language primarily through speaking and listening activities which are then supplemented by reading and writing tasks. She has worked widely as an executive committee member and country representative for British Schools in the Middle East (BSME), mentoring new school principals and helping schools work through the requirements for achieving BSME accreditation. Since joining Dubai Heights Academy, she has led the school forward in its journey of excellence including the achievement of a Very Good KHDA inspection rating, with several outstanding features.

Alison's vision is to lead the school to greater 'heights' by creating and maintaining a positive and progressive environment for students and staff to learn and develop. Alison aims for Dubai Heights Academy to be recognised as an outstanding British School in Dubai which focuses on developing the whole child; academically, intellectually and emotionally. Shaikha Al Mutaiwei is a Higher Level Teaching Assistant in Inclusion, where she combines her expertise in psychology to support students' personal and academic growth. With a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Human Services, as well as a Diploma in Special Education, Shaikha is dedicated to fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Additionally, as an Emirati Ambassador, she plays a key role in promoting cultural understanding and connections within the school community. Her dual commitment to student wellbeing and cultural exchange underscores her passion for making a positive impact in education.

Outside of her professional roles, Shaikha cherishes spending time with her nieces and nephews, delighting in watching them grow and laugh. Her dedication to both her students and family reflects her passion for nurturing and supporting others.

Terrie Spencer
Head of Inclusion

Terrie Spencer is a passionate and dedicated leader of inclusion. She has extensive experience of leadership and teaching in a variety of school settings in the UAE and UK, including: mainstream schools, specialist schools for students of determination, a pupil referral unit, a single gender school, a bilingual school and international schools. Terrie has worked with pupils with a vast range of special educational needs and disablilites, including pupils with selective mutism, hearing impairment, autism, ADHD and specific learning difficulties. In addition, she has supported the development of pupils with English as an Additional Language and has enriched the learning experiences of pupils identified as Gifted and Talented to ensure that they, like all pupils, are suitably challenged to reach their full potential.

Terrie is the eternal student, committed to ongoing professional development. To support her role as the Head of Inclusion, she holds a Master of Education in Special Education Needs with distinction, PENTA accreditation, is a registered test user and a qualified neuro-developmental therapist (INPP method). Furthermore, she is a member of professional bodies including, The British Psychological Society and the Institute of Neuro-Physiological Psychology. In her quest to support and challenge the students in her care, she has studied Gifted and Talented identification and provision, school mental health improvement, Exam Access Arrangements and ABA therapy.

Terrie is especially passionate about school readiness, early intervention and the role of movement in learning. She particularly enjoys spending time in the Early Years, ensuring that pupils have the solid foundations necessary to thrive on their personal learning journey. Terrie believes that working in close partnership with parents and caregivers is key to the best outcomes for pupils and is regularly involved in events, such as parent workshops, to foster these partnerships.

Elaine Irvine
Inclusion Teacher

Elaine Irvine is now in her fifth year at Dubai Heights Academy as an Inclusion teacher. She is mainly based in Secondary, teaching English and maths at Entry Level. Elaine has 18 years of teaching experience across the UK and Dubai. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in the Study of Education, PGCE and the National Award for SEND Coordination. Elaine is passionate about challenging her students to reach their full potential in a supportive and engaging learning environment. She recognises that one path does not fit all and actively strives to accommodate all learning styles through a range of pedagogical approaches.

Elaine has three boys who all attend Dubai Heights Academy. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, cycling and family days out across Dubai.

Sarah Marnell
Inclusion Teacher

Sarah is an enthusiastic and dedicated special needs educator with 9 years of experience as an inclusion teacher. She is based mainly in Secondary, teaching ASDAN. She enjoys teaching students a variety of life skills to prepare them for life outside of the classroom. She has a deep understanding of fostering supportive and inclusive learning environments, identifying main areas for growth, and providing differentiated and personalised learning activities. Sarah is looking forward to providing meaningful, engaging lessons and celebrating the many successes of her students throughout the year.

Sarah is also thrilled to be teaching the GCSE Psychology course. She holds a Bacelor's Degree in Psychology and Master's Degree in Psychology from Queen's University Belfast. She has had wonderful opportunities to apply psychological knowledge, working with children facing adversity in South Africa, the UK, and Kenya.

Allison Buckley
Inclusion Teacher

Allison grew up in Hong Kong and Kenya before finally making the UAE her home in 1996. She worked in both the hospitality and equine industries in Al Ain, Abu Dhabi and Dubai before beginning her teaching career; completing her PGCE in 2007 and her Master's of Education in 2014. She has 15 years teaching experience across a variety of age groups and curricula in the UAE, and holds Accredited Practitioner Status (APS) with the British Dyslexia Association. She is passionate about making a significant contribution to the social and academic growth and development of every student. Allison loves being outdoors, enjoys participating in a variety of sports and is a keen sports photographer.

Charlotte brings a wealth of experience and a passion for education to her role as an inclusion teacher. Hailing from London, Charlotte embarked on her teaching journey after graduating from St Mary's University in Twickenham. Her dedication to nurturing young minds led her to the vibrant educational landscape of the UAE, where she has spent the past 9 years honing her craft.

At the core of Charlotte's teaching philosophy lies the belief that curiosity and a comprehensive understanding of the world are fundamental to a child's development. She strives to instill in her students a sense of wonderment and inquiry, encouraging them to question, explore, and discover new things. Charlotte is committed to fostering a classroom environment where students feel empowered to express themselves freely and creatively.

Kriti Matwani is an Inclusion Teacher with a calm, student-centered approach that emphasises personlised learning to build independence and emotional literacy. With an MA in Education (SEND Pathway), Kriti brings expertise and empathy to her practice, supporting students to develop the skills and confidence they need to thrive and access learning.

In her role, Kriti focuses on equipping young people with tools for emotional regulation and self-advocacy - helping them to understand their needs, communicate effectively, and navigate challenges with greater autonomy. She aims to foster confidence and trust, while her structured strategies ensure that every student feels engaged, supported, and empowered to take ownership of their learning journey.

Kriti aims to build trust through consistency and empathy, creating spaces where students feel safe to take risks, grow, and discover their potential. Outside of school, she enjoys reading and exploring new cuisines — and is always happy to receive a recommendation for a great book or restaurant!

Ingrid Babayan
EAL Teacher

Ingrid has been an EAL teacher for the past 13 years in Dubai, working across both the IB and British curricula and teaching a wide range of age groups. She has successfully led EAL departments at a whole-school level in her previous roles, demonstrating strong leadership and a deep understanding of language acquisition. She holds a Master's degree in Applied Linguistics from Texas Tech University, where she also taught other languages, alongside a PGCE and the National Professional Qualification for Middle Leadership (NPQML). Ingrid not only supports students directly but also works closely with teachers, equipping them with effective strategies to embed ELL support into every lesson. Outside of education, Ingrid is passionate about aerial arts. She loves a good adventure and is an avid traveller, skier, diver, and trekker.

Farzana Bhaiyat
EAL Teacher

Farzana is a dedicated and experienced British-trained teacher with over 12 years of experience in Early Years and Primary education, specialising in English as an Additional Language (EAL). She holds a PGCE (Distinction) in Early Years Education with QTS from the University of Birmingham, a BSc (Hons) in Human Psychology from Aston University, and a TEFL certification. Having worked extensively across the UAE and in the UK, she has successfully led EAL departments, introduced school-wide assessment systems based on the Bell Foundation framework, and delivered CPD to promote inclusive and language-rich teaching practices. Passionate about supporting multilingual learners, Farzana is committed to creating engaging and nurturing learning environments where all children can thrive.

Jane Deek
Speech and Language Therapist

Jane graduated from Flinders University in Adelaide, Australia with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology. She is a certified practising member (CPSP) of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA), and is licensed with the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). In addition, she is bilingual, being fluent in spoken Arabic as well as English.

In Australia, Jane worked across a range of private and government organisations, school and childcare settings. She has experience in working with a range of diagnoses, including: autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability, acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, speech sound disorders and receptive and expressive language disorders. She has completed the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) training and has been involved in the implementation of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems. She is also trained in the SOS Approach to Feeding, which allows for the assessment and treatment of children with feeding difficulties. Jane is an avid learner and is currently completing the Gestalt Language Processing (GLP) course. Jane is committed to providing support to all children and their families, and is a strong advocate for person-centred care and collaborative practice.

Natalia is a Higher Level Teaching Assistant specialising in English as an Additional Language (EAL). With over 20 years of experience across all levels of education, she has taught a diverse range of English courses to students from various backgrounds and ages. She holds a Specialist Degree in Linguistics (QTS), a Degree of Higher Professional Education in Teaching English (Hons) as a Foreign Language, and certification from the American TESOL Institute.

She encourages students to be active participants who understand the purpose behind their learning. Being proponent of digital technology, Natalia generates her own interactive educational applications. Also, she provides support with Russian-English translation to help liaise with parents.

A lover of humor, she uses it as a tool to boost her students' confidence and engagement, believing it helps remain an inspiring mentor. One of her mottos is "Keep going - no matter what." Natalia is developing her language skills in French and Arabic. She enjoys biking, travelling, various handcrafts, and prioritises reading for cognitive development.
